Hello R. Rex Parris High School Family,
Yesterday, in a public address, Governor Newsom emphasized that it is incumbent upon all of us to comply with the “safer-at-home” orders. The Governor, State Superintendent Thurmond, State Board President Darling-Hammond, and the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Debra Duardo, have all recommended that California schools remain physically closed for the rest of the school year.
In accordance with this recommendation, the Antelope Valley Union High School District will extend the physical closure of our schools through the end of the academic year. While we remain physically apart, the District will continue to provide distance learning and support services for all students through June 4, 2020. Your students should be checking their Google accounts for invitations to join the Distance Learning classes. If you need help or to contact the school, please use the ABOUT button and click Contact Us on the school website as there will be limited staff on site to answer the school phone.
Next week we will have an additional Technology checkout on Monday April 6th and Tuesday April 7th from 9:00am – 12:00pm. If you have not done so, please fill out our Technology Survey on the website at the bottom of the home page to speed up the checkout process. At this time, we will be checking out one device to each household. Next week, you can request an additional device for other Rex Parris High School students after 11:00 am on Tuesday. If you need internet, please contact local service providers for free internet for the rest of the school year.
I understand our seniors are concerned about graduation and grad night. As a district we are reviewing all possible ideas and options. The moment we have any information, we will send out the information to you and your students.
