Work Permits

Work permits are a legal requirement for ALL minors throughout the year

Below are the steps for the work permit application process

  1. Complete all REQUIRED information on the work permit application (to access a work permit application click HERE):
  • Minor's information - Please complete all the required information for the student.
  • Parent/guardian's signature and date are REQUIRED. 
  • Employer must complete the work permit application with all the required information. We cannot accept copied or stamped signatures.
2. Email the work experience coordinator for an appointment. Same day appointments are NOT AVAILABLE!
  • You must use your school issued email to make an appointment.
  • Indicate which school you attend and your school ID number.
  • Be sure that you have completed all of step 1 above, prior to requesting your appointment.
  • DUE TO CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION, PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL COMPLETED APPLICATION!
3. Bring the following to your appointment: 
  • MINOR STUDENT MUST BE PRESENT (parent is not required to be present)!
  • Proof of age; birth certificate, driver's license, or California ID.
  • Work permit application COMPLETE with ORIGINAL signatures; employer, parent, and minor student.
  • Your own pen to sign application.

WHO To Contact

Due to limited staffing during the summer months, only work experience coordinators from Eastside, Highland, Littlerock, Palmdale, and Quartz Hill High School will be available to cover ALL AVUHSD SCHOOLS during the summer.  Please refer to the following summer schedule to make contact with the work experience coordinator available to process your application. 

Work Experience Education

Provides paid or unpaid on-the-job experiences for secondary school students through training agreements with employers. Please contact the Work Experience Coordinator at your student's school. Types of work experience programs include:

  • Vocational
  • General
  • Exploratory
